Director of Technology Product Management for our Automation Team

AbacusNext is looking for an experienced Director of Technology Product Management for our Automation Team 

This Job is based out of the San Diego Corporate Office and cannot be worked remotely.

  • Leverage deep experience in creating and leading technology strategies, systems and streamlined processes that contribute to the increased efficiency, reliability, and quality of software product development. 
  •  Build and manage a team of exceptional product managers, including recommending and executing team skills changes to facilitate growth and overall team effectiveness
  • Working directly with the executive team to develop a long-term strategy for our product, platform and services
  • Oversee the readiness of the product and company prior to general releases 
  • Model and enforce discipline in Agile principles that contribute to team effectiveness and efficiencies
  • Lead a team of software product management professionals to conceive of, evolve, and communicate a strategic product roadmap, translate that strategy into prioritized and actionable units of work for engineering teams, and deliver a best-in-class internal and external user experience.  
  • Demonstrate experience leading product management for a large-scale enterprise application, including complex backend/platform components. 
  • Drive product prioritization and detailed product definition for Client Portal automation.
  • Engage with customers through a variety of channels, deeply understand their needs and passionately represent the voice of the customer to internal teams.
  • Create product roadmap, manage priorities, and provide effective written and verbal updates to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Prioritize product enhancements and backlog issues using data-driven analysis and sound judgment.
  • Meet aggressive and complex project milestones and simultaneously exceed customer expectations  
  • Drive feature delivery/user acceptance/roll out to internal and external user communities.
  • Demonstrate partnering skills and ability to work within a collaborative team environment; experience working effectively with engineering as true creative partners, sharing ownership of product outcomes.  


  • Tenured:  
    • 7-10+ years of Product Management experience overall 5+ yrs. of experience using Agile SCRUM methodology, leading SCRUM teams. Certified Agile Product Owner Experience working in the software development industry strongly desired  
    • Strong technical ability at a systems and architectural level, with a proven track record of well-scaling infrastructure.
    • Familiarity with ERP tools (preferably NetSuite).
  • Self-Starter: demonstrated ability to assume ownership, organize and achieve stretch goals in a fast-paced environment, while managing the team.
  • Team Player: A creative problem solver who inspires innovation across the entire organization and enjoys working with other talented Product Managers to solve complex problems.
  • Strong Communicator: 
    • Excellent communication, documentation and presentation skills with ALL levels of organization.
    • Must be able to command a room. 
  • Manage the work: 
    • Experience with Agile development methodology and tools (preferably JIRA).
    • Excellent project management skills, resource and timeline management, risk assessment, contingency planning and ability to work with external contractors and consultants 
    • Leadership & management experience. 
  • User-Experience Minded: Doesn’t design apps in a vacuum but thinks about how they fit into real-world contexts. UX background a plus.
  • Obsessive about Detail: Has an eye for details and an understanding of how they can affect the quality and understandability of an experience. Will not ship a bad experience but also knows when perfection is the enemy of the good. 
  • Values Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business or related field from a top university. MBA or technical Master’s degree preferred but not required
